SOCCER FESTIVALS

We bring children, family and friends together to have an enjoyable day at our Score4Soccer Festival.

Children require much needed game time to learn soccer, our S4S Festivals offers the player an hour of game time per event – register to play in our event and gain valuable minutes of soccer playing time needed to develop your soccer skills.

It’s all about learning with game time !

Shawn Bester

Program Director

“Score4Soccer provides children with a simple framework to learn the elements of soccer.”

The Score4Soccer philosophy offers children the opportunity to play real soccer, to build up and score — defend — play in transition as the ball exchanges. Fewer players and more confined space – more player involvement – more touches of the ball – more learning moments.

In simplified, modified games, players learn to be aware and to improvise, to concentrate and recognise the soccer game situation.

Youth Soccer Festivals

The Score4Soccer Programme Director issues prizes to Individual Players in reward of their match day efforts, with the highest points scorers receiving their prizes after the event at the awards ceremony.

S4S Festivals

Youth Soccer Players register to participate at our S4S Festivals on an individual player basis. We dont offer Club Team entries. The games in the S4S Festival are played in an area measuring approximately 40×25 yards, with a goal at each end two yards wide. There are no keepers. Players operate in a small unit. This means they can switch from defence to attack, and from wide areas to the middle, in only a few paces. After a goal, play restarts with a goal kick or a dribble from the goal line. All balls that go out to the side are tapped back into play with a pass to a team mate, while free-kicks are indirect. There are no offsides and penalties are taken from the halfway line.

Using this means, we have created the smallest possible formation which still has all three lines: attack, midfield and defence. But we still see all elements of ground play, combinations, and the notion that the ball should be the thing doing the work. Although creativity is important, team play is the biggest element. The matches are relentlessly intensive, meaning that players get used to cooperating with each other, can fine-tune visual and tactical aspects, and get used to playing at high intensity. Because scenarios develop so quickly, children learn the dos and don’ts of the game through constant repetition.

Dutch Maestro: Johan Cruyff

Johan Cruyff famously said, “I trained about 4 hours per week at Ajax as a boy, but I played 4 hours on the street everyday. Where do you think I learned to play football?”

The reality is, our youth players in South Africa don’t have safe environments to play in the park or street any longer. We have to create an environment where the children can spend time playing soccer, interacting and making friendships.
